It all started with one rescue story. We found Chance at a Houston shelter — just a day before he was scheduled for euthanasia — and his journey became the heart of Gifted by Chance. Created to inspire kindness and compassion in young hearts, our books and collectible Value Charms share Chance’s message: that love, empathy, appreciation for all living creatures, and second chances can change lives. When kids learn to care early, the world grows a little softer, a little braver, and a lot more kind. And because his story is real, so is our mission: a portion of every purchase helps animals in need find their own second chance... Because every soul deserves to be seen.

Rebecca Akl is a creative storyteller, branding expert, and founder of a mission-driven advertising agency. A devoted advocate for animals and children, she brings heart and purpose into every story she tells. The Gifted by Chance series was inspired by the real-life bond between her son and their rescue pup. Through her work and volunteer efforts, Rebecca writes to teach young readers the values of compassion, empathy, and respect for all living creatures. Her mission is to inspire a new generation to lead with kindness—toward animals, people, and the world they share.
